The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced revisions to its LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certification exam objectives and subsequent exam question updates.

Interop 2012 Keynotes Lay Out Action Plan for IT



The “IT market is on fire,” exclaimed Interop general manager Jennifer Jessup shortly after walking out on stage here at the Mandalay Bay convention center in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Jessup kicked off the 2012 Las Vegas edition of the long-running networking and interoperability trade show and conference. “On fire” may seem like to be a bit of stretch to cash-strapped IT departments. The sense at Interop this year is that things are looking up for the IT industry thanks to the maturation of newer (and evolution of older) technologies and solutions-ranging from cloud computing to virtualization to unified communications, convergence and beyond.

Cisco CCIE Data Center Beta exam available



The beta version of the CCIE Data Center Written Exam is now available for scheduling and testing at all worldwide Cisco-authorized Pearson VUE testing centers beginning May 1 through June 15, 2012. The beta exam will be offered at a discounted price of US$50, with full recertification or lab qualification credit granted to all passing candidates.

The CWNA exam is being updated to PW0-105 on May 4, 2012. The current version of the CWNA exam, PW0-104, will be available until July 31, 2012. You can download the new PW0-105 exam objectives here and see what changed from the 104 objectives to the 105 objectives here.

Cisco launches CCNP Service Provider



Cisco announced last week that we would now see a replacement for the old CCIP track and call it the CCNP Service Provider. As a result of this certification launch, Cisco is retiring Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) certification on 29 October 2012.

Microsoft's Windows 8 OS - 3 'flavours'



Microsoft's next operating system will come in just three different flavours, the company has announced. For those with Intel-compatible machines, the OS will be available in two versions - Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. And for those with devices, largely tablets, powered by ARM-designed chips there will be a Windows RT version.
